Every screencli account belongs to a workspace. On your own it's just you; invite teammates and the workspace becomes shared — one Pro plan, one credit pool, and a common set of recordings. This page covers inviting people, what they can see, and accepting an invite.
Why a workspace
The workspace is the unit of billing and sharing:
- Billing is shared. The workspace holds one plan and one credit balance — teammates draw from the same pool, so you don't buy Pro per person.
- Recordings are shared. Your dashboard lists every recording created by anyone in the workspace, and
privaterecordings are viewable by any workspace member (not just their owner).
Invite a teammate
From Settings → Team:
- Type the teammate's email in the invite box.
- Click Send invite. screencli records the invite and emails them an accept link. You'll see "Invite sent." on success.
The Members list shows everyone currently in the workspace with their role (owner or member). Pending invites are listed below with a Revoke action to cancel one before it's accepted.
A few rules the invite flow enforces:
- The email must be a valid address.
- You can't invite someone who's already a member.
- Inviting an email that already has a pending invite re-sends it rather than creating a duplicate.
Accept an invite
The invited person clicks the link in their email, which opens the accept invite page showing which workspace they're joining and who invited them.
- If they're signed in, accepting adds them to the workspace immediately.
- If they're not signed in, they'll sign in (or create an account) first, then land back on the accept page.
Accepting is idempotent — following the link again when you're already a member simply confirms membership. Once accepted, the new member sees the workspace's shared recordings and draws on its shared plan and credits right away.
Notes & limits
- Roles are owner and member. The person who created the workspace is its owner; invited teammates join as members.
- The invite link is a bearer token. Anyone who opens the link and signs in can accept it, so treat invite emails as sensitive. Revoke a pending invite from the Team section if it was sent by mistake.
- Members share the plan and credits. Adding teammates doesn't add credits — the workspace's single monthly credit pool is shared across everyone.
